My Approach

Engaging across the funding ecosystem, I help nonprofits and funders align their values, strategy, and relationships to unlock resources and advance meaningful impact. I work in deep partnership with my clients, providing bespoke services tailored to each client’s vision and needs.

For Nonprofits

I serve as a fractional development director, supporting organizations that need senior leadership but not a full-time hire.

Working as an embedded member of your team, I lead fundraising strategy while actively supporting execution—determining priorities, managing key relationships, and building the systems and infrastructure critical to a sustainable fundraising program.

This often includes:

  • Fundraising strategy

  • Major gifts development

  • Multi-year planning

  • Board and leadership engagement

  • Development systems and infrastructure

For Funders

I advise foundations and family philanthropies on grantmaking strategy, helping translate vision and values into clear priorities and meaningful impact.

I work with funders to move beyond transactional giving, supporting deeper engagement in the fields they fund through approaches that are rigorous, partnership-driven, and grounded in trust.

This often includes:

  • Strategy and priority setting

  • Grantmaking process design and development

  • Opportunity sourcing, assessment, and due diligence

  • Trust-based approaches to learning and evaluation

  • Ecosystem and field engagement

I’m Annie Palmer, a fractional fundraising leader and philanthropy consultant.

My experience cuts across issue areas and geographies, shaped by the complexity and interconnectedness of social justice work.

I bring a collaborative, strategic approach to building and strengthening development programs at both emerging and established organizations. For me, fundraising is a joyful, relational practice rooted in trust, shared values, and collective impact.
